My third great grandfather, Moses Franklin PORTER, was born January 20, 1826 to Henry PORTER (1778-1868) and Nancy BOWLES (1792-1836) in Muddy Creek, Madison, Kentucky.

He married Elizabeth Ann HOSKINS September 13, 1847 in Christian County, Illinois.  She died December 28, 1855 during the childbirth of my second great grandfather, Daniel Marion PORTER, and his un-named twin who died shortly after (apparently the baby lived a few days into the next year).  Moses and Elizabeth had five children in all.

Moses then married Mary Ann “Polly” ROSENBERGER August 30, 1857 in Christian County, Illinois.  They had eleven children together.

Moses died December 26, 1900 in Oxford, Kansas at the age of 74.
